SAC (Services Accounting Code) is a classification system under India’s GST regime used to categorize services for tax purposes.
SAC stands for Services Accounting Code — a 6-digit code issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) to classify services under India’s GST system, similar to how HSN codes classify goods.
Every service invoice in India should mention the relevant SAC code so the correct GST rate is applied and so tax authorities can identify what service was provided. For example, web development and IT design services generally fall under SAC 998314, while advertising and graphic design services fall under SAC 998392.
